Hyundai Motor and Investment Ghana Limited, has donated a variety of personal protective items valued at GHS 20,000 to the Accident, Emergency and Orthopedics Department of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Presenting the items, which include 750 pieces of face masks, 150 sterilized tissues, 75 bottles of sanitizers, 5 pieces of contactless thermometers and 1,000 latex gloves, the Brands Manager of the company, Ganesh Phadale, lauded Ghanaian frontline health workers for their contribution to the fight against the spread of COVID-19.

He said Hyundai Motors recognizes the critical role of health professionals to the nation’s development and the need to protect them as they embark on their daily duties.

Head of the Accident, Emergency and Orthopedics Department at Korle-Bu, Dr. Frederick Kwarteng, called for continued collaboration between stakeholders and management of public health facilities to help address their needs and save more lives.

He said Hyundai’s presentation becomes the single-biggest donation the Department has received in recent times, and appealed to other organizations to emulate the gesture.

The Deputy Head of Marketing and Public Relations at Hyundai Motors, Erika Thompson, said Hyundai has made similar donations in other countries since the outbreak of the pandemic.

She said Hyundai’s initiatives to tackle COVID-19 globally include delivering emergency supplies to medical facilities in China, offering free transportation for the elderly and healthcare professionals in Brazil, and providing a fleet of its vehicles to volunteers and self-isolating customers in the UK.
